Making Music with Suno – And Why I’m Doing It

Music is changing fast. You no longer need a studio, band, or microphone to create a full song. Now you only need an idea and a good prompt. That’s where Suno comes in.

I’ve been experimenting with Suno, and it’s surprising what’s possible. You give it instructions like the mood, the style, the voice, and the story you want to tell. Suno turns that into a full song in under a minute. It’s not a trick. It’s music made by AI — fast and usable.

You can try it too at 1aas.com/suno.

What Can You Do with Suno?

  • Make original songs with full vocals and instruments

  • Choose from styles like pop, rock, jazz, country, ambient, or electronic

  • Add your own lyrics or let the AI write them for you

  • Make background music for YouTube, vlogs, short films, or podcasts

  • Create intros or jingles for your brand

  • Generate multiple versions fast to test different ideas

  • Use 1aas.com/suno to try it for free

You don’t need musical training. You don’t need equipment. You only need a prompt — and that’s where creativity starts.

What You Cannot Do with Suno (Yet)

  • You can’t export individual instrument tracks (stems)

  • You can’t remix or edit the song directly in the platform

  • You can’t sell the music without checking license terms (read the rules)

  • You can’t choose a specific real voice — only a general style

  • You can’t control the structure fully (verse/chorus timing is fixed)

  • And no, it’s not made for live performance… yet

Still, it’s a great tool if you need good music fast. Test your ideas before investing in full production.

My First Public Song: Back Then We Watched the Stars

I made this song using Suno. It’s a playful look at how we dreamed about the future back in the 70s and 80s — watching Kirk and Battlestar Galactica — and how we now talk to phones, generate music, and live with AI listening all around us.

It’s fun, a bit sarcastic, and made with the help of a prompt that reflects what many of us (around age 60) feel today.

Lyrics:

Verse 1
Back then we watched the stars
Kirk was flyin’ past the moon
Battlestar was blastin’ lasers
Every Saturday afternoon
We dreamed of talkin’ robots
And phones that knew our name
Now my phone corrects my grammar
Man, that’s not the same!

Chorus
Now we’re here in the future
Everything’s on screen
We make songs with no musicians
And our fridge keeps tabs on beans
Yeah we’ve come a long way, baby
It’s both genius and bizarre
We dreamed of space adventures
Now our smartwatch runs the car!

Verse 2
I used to write on paper
Now I talk, and it gets typed
My phone knows when I’m sleepy
And still keeps ads well-hyped
We’ve got apps for every question
We’ve got AI makin’ tunes
But my toaster’s actin’ jealous
It beeped all afternoon

Chorus
Now we’re here in the future
We can’t hide a single word
Your speaker’s always listenin’
Like a paranoid little bird
Yeah, we wanted all this magic
Now we’ve got it near and far
But I miss the time when sci-fi
Stayed inside the VCR

Bridge (spoken)
We used to say “Beam me up!”
Now we just say “Hey Siri”
And she says, “I didn’t catch that…”
Ten times in a row.

Verse 3
Now don’t get me all grumpy
I love some of this tech
But when I said “play old rock tunes”
It gave me synth instead of Beck
Still, I sit back in my chair
Ask AI to write a song
And wonder if my microwave
Will judge me if I’m wrong

Final Chorus
Now we’re livin’ in the future
And it’s fast, slick, and wild
But somewhere in the datastream
Is the dream of every child
So here’s to all the dreamers
With Kirk and Galactica
The stars are in our pockets now
But I liked them way up far
