Provider and contact
BirdsAndVisitors (Android package nl.aebe.birds) is provided by Aebe / Aebe.nl, an independent hobby developer living in Germany, not a registered business. Contact for support and privacy requests: aebe2025@gmail.com. This policy covers the app, including its Google AdMob advertising integration. Last updated: 16 October 2026.
Your local records
Channels, favourites, watchlist, watched flags, journal entries, dates, places, own-channel profile, private notes, local stream schedule, appearance and backup metadata are saved in private app storage on your phone. No BirdsAndVisitors account or developer-hosted database is used. The app does not upload this collection to Aebe or include it in advertising requests. Local records remain until you delete them, clear app storage or uninstall. There are no automatic channel checks or live notifications.
YouTube and external websites
Opening a channel, video or livestream connects to YouTube through Android WebView or the official embedded player. A first-use notice explains this connection. Google can receive your IP address, device/browser details, cookies and similar identifiers, playback requests and interactions. Approximate location can be inferred from IP. WebView media integrity can send app identity, version, signing-certificate information and an attestation token. YouTube may show ads and apply its own restrictions and consent choices. External websites and email apps have their own policies. Camera links open only when selected; affiliate links, when present, are labelled. Embedded and external services are not operated by Aebe.
AdMob advertising and consent
The app includes a Home banner using Google Mobile Ads (AdMob), plus Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP). Google’s SDK collects and shares IP address, advertising/device or account identifiers where available, app and advertising interactions, and diagnostics such as performance information for advertising, measurement/analytics and fraud prevention. IP can be used to estimate approximate location. Advertising identifiers depend on device settings, consent and SDK behaviour. Google processes this information under its own policies and retention rules; it is not stored in the local journal. Test builds use Google sample ad units but can still make SDK network requests.
Your advertising choices
UMP checks the consent state when the app starts. Where required, a Google consent message is shown before requesting ads. Ads are requested only when UMP reports that requests are permitted; this can include limited or non-personalised ads where permitted and is not a promise that every refusal removes every ad. If no valid state is available after an error, ads remain off and the local organiser is usable. Reopen available choices under More > Advertising privacy choices. Android settings also let you reset or delete the advertising ID. No separate developer analytics or crash-reporting SDK is added, but AdMob itself processes analytics and diagnostics.
Backups, clipboard and sharing
Backups are manual, readable JSON files and can include private notes. They are not encrypted by this app. Android’s file picker lets you choose a destination, which can include a cloud provider with its own policy. Import replaces the current collection after confirmation. Uninstalling the app does not delete exported backup copies. Copy/share functions act only when selected; own-channel sharing includes public links, not private notes or the local stream schedule. Receiving apps and clipboard handling follow their own rules.
Permissions and security
Internet and network-state access support online content, ads and consent services. The merged advertising SDK can declare advertising-ID and related Android advertising-service permissions. SDK dependencies also declare wake-lock and foreground-service permissions for their internal components; the app does not implement a background channel-monitoring service. The app does not request GPS, camera, microphone, contacts, notification or broad media/storage access. Setup photos supplied by the creator are bundled with the app. Online saved links use HTTPS and cleartext traffic is disabled. Google Mobile Ads states that its collected data is encrypted in transit using TLS. Local storage relies on Android security; exported backups remain readable files.
Purposes, legal bases and retention
Local data is processed to provide features you choose. Where applicable, consent is used for advertising identifiers/storage and personalisation when required; you can change the available consent choices. Support correspondence is used to answer requests, based on the requested communication and legitimate interests in providing support and security where applicable. Aebe keeps support emails only as needed to deal with the request and applicable obligations. Google services have their own processing purposes, legal bases, international-transfer safeguards and retention periods; this app does not promise that Google deletes data when you uninstall it.
Privacy rights and deletion
Where applicable under data-protection law, you can request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection or portability relating to personal data held by Aebe, and withdraw consent without affecting earlier lawful processing. Contact aebe2025@gmail.com. Aebe cannot recover or inspect a local journal unless you choose to send it. Delete local entries or clear app storage to remove local records; delete backup files separately. Clear YouTube browsing data in the app removes its WebView cookies and web storage. Manage Google-held data through Google’s privacy tools. You may complain to a competent data-protection authority, including the authority in your German federal state or usual residence.
Audience and changes
This release is designed and marketed for adult wildlife hobbyists and channel owners aged 18 and over. It is not designed as a children’s service. This describes the intended audience, not a guarantee about all YouTube content or a content rating. If features, advertising or data practices change, this policy will be updated. The three language versions describe the same app practices.
